Open data tells part of the story. We need Montrealers with first-hand experience to fill in what datasets can't capture — actual permit experiences, real service interactions, and what's visibly changing in your neighbourhood.
What datasets don't capture
Open data shows volumes, dates, and outcomes — but not whether services were helpful, whether processes felt accessible, or whether something visibly changed on the ground. Only people who interact with the City daily can tell us how the system actually performs.
How You Can Help
If you live in Montreal, you already have the information we need. Here's what we're looking for:
- Permit processing times
Applied for a permit recently? Was the process faster, slower, or the same as before?
- City service interactions
Called 311? Visited a borough office? Was it accessible, responsive, helpful?
- Neighbourhood changes
Cleanliness, safety, snow removal, road conditions — what's actually changed on the ground?
- Council and committee meetings
Attending local borough or city council meetings? Let us know about decisions that affect residents.
